About Expat Money
Expat Money compares Dutch credit cards and savings accounts for people who moved to the Netherlands. Most comparison sites here are in Dutch and assume you already know how BKR, BSN and the deposit guarantee work. We explain them in English and put the figures that decide your application next to each product.
Who runs this site
Expat Money is run by Juan Buis, from Amsterdam. He checks the guides and the product figures on the site. The figures themselves come from the providers’ own websites and Dutch comparison sites, re-checked every day, as described below.
What you can do here
- Compare credit cards on monthly fee, foreign transaction fee, the BKR credit check and the income they ask for.
- Compare savings accounts on interest, access to your money, minimum deposit and the deposit guarantee.
- Check current savings rates, see rankings for one need, or put two products side by side.
- Read the guides on banking, credit, savings and tax.
How rates are kept current
Rates and fees are re-checked every day against provider websites and Dutch comparison sites. Every product page shows when its figures were last confirmed, and says so plainly when that was more than two weeks ago. How we rank products has the details.
How we make money
We earn money through affiliate links. When you apply for a product through our site and are approved, we may receive a commission from the provider. This doesn't cost you anything extra.
Our recommendations are based on what's best for you, not what pays us the most. We include products with no affiliate program when they're genuinely good options. Links that may earn us a commission are marked “Affiliate link”.
